The cuvée
Six villages.
Two stages of ageing.
N.P.U. Rosé 2009 comes from six Grand Cru villages: Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Chouilly, Verzenay, Mailly-Champagne and Bouzy. Its composition is 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir.
The wine uses first-press juice. A portion of the Pinot Noir undergoes maceration, allowing contact between the skins and juice to develop the rosé colour. The base wines ferment and age in small oak barrels for ten months, followed by more than twelve years of ageing on lees in bottle.
After these two stages, the dosage is 3 g/L. Red-fruit and citrus notes meet aromas developed through ageing, with acidity and fine bubbles connecting the different elements.
