MATCHA CAT is an 8% matcha liqueur from SHOCHU REPUBLIC, planned by Nanzan Bussan Corporation and produced by Hamada Shuzo in Kagoshima. It is built on authentic barley shochu rather than neutral spirit, giving the matcha profile a roasted grain backbone and a soft, low-alcohol texture.

Launched in 2024 as part of Shochu Republic’s first export-focused lineup, MATCHA CAT was designed as an approachable entry point into Japanese shochu culture. The vivid green colour, sweet green-tea aroma, gentle barley-shochu depth, and round texture are part of its deliberately pop, contemporary character.

Product character: Matcha, soft sweetness, roasted barley notes, and a smooth texture from sugar and starch syrup. Natural tea sediment may appear, so the bottle should be shaken before service. The formula includes permitted food colouring and thickener; this is part of the product’s designed visual and textural profile.

Culinary affinity: Matcha, roasted grain, and soft sweetness can sit beside light desserts, dairy-based sweets, coconut, citrus, pineapple, and dishes where green-tea bitterness balances gentle sweetness.
