RED WINE UMESHU is a Japanese red wine plum liqueur from KATA SHIMO Winery in Osaka. It is crafted by blending the winery’s own unfiltered red wine made from Muscat Bailey A grapes with plum infusion using Kishu Nanko plums, then enriching it with house-made grape distillate (grappa). The result is a wine-forward, naturally colored liqueur with ripe berry aromatics, smooth sweetness, and a soft but structured finish. The production approach emphasizes an unheated, unfiltered, additive-free profile without added coloring, flavoring, or acidifiers, making it a premium crossover between aperitif, dessert, and cocktail use.

Culinary affinity: Its balanced sweet-fruity profile pairs well with roasted poultry, pork, mild cheeses, and dessert-forward menus. It also works with Thai flavors in dishes such as tom yum and massaman when served as a pairing drink or a cocktail component, where its red-fruit and plum texture adds depth without overpowering complex spice notes.
