Exploring the Exquisite Pairing of French Cuisine and Sake

Wine and sake, each with its own unique charm and history. The endless possibilities of these drinks fascinate us, especially when paired with world cuisines. Today, I focus on the French and Sake pairing and explore how this unique pairing has appeal in fine restaurants and hotels.

To begin, I would like to share my experience of visiting the prestigious French restaurant “Airelles Château de Versailles le grand controle”. The restaurant is located in the heart of the Chateau de Versailles and was made famous by Alain Ducasse, a master of French cuisine. The elegance of the Château de Versailles and its historical background fascinate all who visit. However, the biggest surprise here was Ducasse’s aggressive approach to pairing sake with French cuisine.

Particularly impressive was the collaboration with a Japanese sake brewery Shichiken. They collaborated to develop a sparkling sake brand called “Shichiken Alain Ducasse Sparkling sake”. This sake was a perfect match for Ducasse’s French cuisine and paired beautifully with the Japanese-inspired dishes. These efforts will bring out the new appeal of French cuisine and sake and enhance the deliciousness of the two.

Pairing French cuisine with sake is an attractive option for the sophisticated, and we Japanophiles are delighted to see sake being recognized and paired with cuisines from around the world. I hope that through opportunities like this, the excellence of sake will spread throughout the world, and that even more people will become aware of its wonderful appeal.

Through its pairing with cuisines from around the world, sake has attracted many people with its delicate and rich flavors. The pairing of French cuisine and sake is a delicious bridge between different cultures and enriches the dining experience. Through this wonderful experience, I will further promote the world-class culture of Japan. The pairing of French cuisine and sake offers us more than just a food pairing. It is an invitation to a delicious journey that connects culture, history, and the hearts of people. (Mr. Bacchus)
