KAWAGOE

KAWAGOE is a Japanese shochu from Miyazaki’s Kawagoe Shuzo, made with local sweet potatoes and traditional techniques, including atmospheric distillation and craft-focused hand production. It reflects the distillery’s family-led, small-scale approach and an emphasis on hands-on process control from distillation to label finishing.

Heritage note: ANA’s 2008 in-flight service release records that Miyazaki’s Kawagoe shochu was served in ANA international first class for about four years, starting around 2002, and was later offered on selected international business-class routes (Europe/North America, Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Mumbai). Its current status should be confirmed separately.

Culinary affinity: Roasted and mellow notes pair well with grilled meats, seafood, mildly spiced Thai dishes, and dry desserts. It also works well with warm water or soda.
