About the Wine

Domaine Grand Veneur is the estate-grown, estate-bottled arm of the Jaume family's Rhône holdings, founded in 1979 by Odile and Alain Jaume from an initial nine hectares. The family's vineyards now span roughly 90 hectares across four appellations.

This cuvée is hand-harvested, destemmed and crushed, then fermented in temperature-controlled tanks. It is raised entirely without oak, aged only in stainless steel and concrete, allowing the character of the fruit to lead.

Grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted before fermentation.Fermentation runs eighteen days in temperature-controlled tanks at 28–30°C, with traditional pigeage (punch-downs).The wine is aged ten to twelve months entirely in stainless steel and concrete, without oak.The estate's vineyards are certified organic by Ecocert.

At the table

With its bright fruit and spiced finish, this wine sits comfortably alongside Japanese, Thai and Western dishes alike.

Without the weight of oak, the wine stays out of the way of a dish's own seasoning and umami, which gives it flexibility across different culinary styles.

Japanese

  • Simmered beef tendon (gyusuji nikomi)
  • Yakitori with tare sauce
  • Hamburg steak

Why it worksThe savoury depth of tare-glazed and slow-simmered dishes meets the wine's berry fruit and spiced finish.

Thai

  • Pad kra pao (pork or beef)
  • Massaman curry (mild)
  • Grilled Isaan-style meats

Why it worksHerb and spice-forward Thai cooking finds an easy companion in the wine's oak-free, fruit-driven style.

Western

  • Grilled merguez sausage
  • Tomato-sauced pasta
  • Ratatouille

Why it worksTomato acidity and Provençal herbs echo the wine's fruit and spice in a classic Southern French pairing.
