About the Wine
LE KATZ NOISETTE Gewurztraminer is made from 100% Gewurztraminer grown on clay-limestone and sandy silt soils on the lower slopes of Katzenthal.
In August 2017, the vineyards and commercial portfolio behind this wine passed from Clément Klur to Domaine Léon Heitzmann; the wine is produced today at the estate's cellars in Ammerschwihr.

BG wine structure estimate
Comparative profile within the Bacchus Global wine range.
Rose petal, lychee and pickled mango aromas, layered with earthy spice and mineral undertones.
Off-dry on the palate, with ripe concentrated fruit balanced by high natural acidity and deep minerality, without excess alcohol warmth.
Before it reaches the glass
Temperature
8–10°C, cool enough to keep the off-dry sweetness in balance while letting the rose and lychee aromatics stay lifted.
Timing
The wine is expected to show its best character within an estimated 2026–2030 window, spanning both youthful freshness and further bottle development.
Glassware
A medium-bowled white wine glass suited to aromatic varieties, which gathers the wine's perfume while letting it unfold gradually.
At the table
Pairs naturally with spice-forward, flavour-rich dishes.
The off-dry sweetness and high natural acidity give the wine enough structure to meet spice and gentle heat, while its exotic aromatics stay distinct rather than overwhelmed.
Japanese
- Shrimp tempura
- Butabara no shogayaki (Japanese pork and ginger stir-fry)
- Unadon (grilled eel with sweet-savoury glaze)
Why it worksGinger and sweet-savoury glazes echo the wine's lychee-toned aromatics and off-dry style, while its high acidity cuts through the richness of fried batter and glaze.
Thai
- Massaman curry
- Gaeng kua sapparot (pineapple curry)
- Moo palo (star-anise braised pork)
Why it worksCinnamon and star anise in these dishes echo the wine's exotic spice notes, and the off-dry sweetness softens the impact of chilli heat and warm spice.
Western
- Flammekueche (Alsatian tarte flambée)
- Clove-scented roast pork with apple sauce
- Aged Munster cheese
Why it worksClassic Alsatian dishes pair sweetness with spice in a way that mirrors the wine's own structure, while the cheese's pungency needs an equally aromatic partner to stay balanced.
