About This Wine
Château Les Croisille has farmed vines above the Lot Valley in Fages, near Luzech, since 1979, gradually expanding across the limestone plateaus and river terraces that shape this part of Cahors.
Le Croizillon blends fruit from several of the estate's terroirs—free-draining limestone plateau soils and gravelly Lot Valley terraces—into a Malbec built for freshness and easy drinking rather than the denser, more traditional style often associated with Cahors.

At the table
The wine's light tannin and fresh fruit make it a natural match for grilled and lightly charred dishes across several cuisines.
Its brightness works well alongside charcuterie, grilled proteins and dishes with a touch of char, without needing the intensity of heavier, long-aged reds.
Japanese
- Yakitori with light tare sauce
- Buta shabu (pork shabu-shabu)
- Ham and antipasto plate
Why it worksThe wine's soft tannin and fresh fruit sit comfortably alongside lightly seasoned grilled or simmered pork, without overwhelming the dish.
Thai
- Moo ping (grilled pork skewers)
- Gai yang (Isaan-style grilled chicken)
- Light stir-fried dishes
Why it worksSmoky char-grilled flavors and the wine's fruit-forward freshness echo each other well, particularly when spice levels are kept moderate.
Western
- Charcuterie
- Tapas
- Light barbecue dishes
Why it worksFruit-led and food-friendly, the wine complements casual grilled and cured-meat plates without competing for attention.

Winemaking
Grapes are picked by a mix of hand and machine harvest, with part of the fruit undergoing carbonic maceration and the remainder macerated for around ten days in total, before fermentation with native yeasts. The wine is then aged for eight months in concrete and stainless steel tanks.
Product detail
The blend draws on multiple parcels across the estate's limestone plateau and the Lot Valley's second terrace, from vines averaging 30 years old planted at a density of 4,500 vines per hectare.
Terroir & Origin
Where the iron-flecked limestone plateau meets the gravelly terraces along the Lot, the resulting blend leans toward fruit-forward freshness without losing structure.
