ICHIRO’S MALT MIZUNARA WOOD RESERVE is a blended malt whisky from Venture Whisky and Chichibu Distillery in Saitama, Japan. Built around the Mizunara Wood Reserve concept, it combines malt whisky linked to the closed Hanyu Distillery legacy with Chichibu malt, then marries the whisky in vats made from Japanese mizunara oak. This expression highlights mizunara in two ways: as maturation wood and as part of Chichibu’s unique fermentation story through mizunara washbacks. Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural color, it shows citrus, honey, dark chocolate, spice, sandalwood, incense, tobacco, vanilla, and a distinctive oriental wood aroma.

Culinary affinity: Its mizunara-driven sandalwood, incense, citrus, honey, spice, and dark chocolate notes pair well with grilled eel, yakitori, roasted pork, mushrooms, aged cheese, miso-based dishes, nutty desserts, and dark chocolate. It also works beautifully as a premium mizunara highball with Japanese grilled dishes and Thai food using herbs, citrus, and gentle spice.
