Champagne Waris Hubert

Crafting Elegance and Finesse from the Heart of Côte des Blancs

Champagne Waris Hubert is a renowned Champagne maison located in the Champagne region of France, specifically in the village of Avize in the Côte des Blancs district. This family-owned house is run by Olivier WARIS, the 4th generation, and their label is a collaboration between the two of them. At Waris Hubert, meticulous vineyard management and strong commitment are practiced to fully express the unique terroir of their estates, which include precious plots in Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims.

Waris Hubert specializes in making Champagne with elegance and finesse, with a particular emphasis on the purity of Chardonnay, but also produces Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier blends. From non-vintage cuvées to more complex vintage releases and prestige cuvées, they offer a variety of styles of Champagne, all of which are highly regarded for their purity, finesse, and sensitivity to their vineyard origins. These Champagnes are very popular with connoisseurs who appreciate a sophisticated expression of Champagne.

The Waris-Hubert family’s Champagne production is supported by a strong family spirit. Stephanie and Olivier Waris have a deep love of viticulture and winemaking an attention to detail and a commitment to the community. They made their own pressing center and cellar in 2001 and have been passionate about vineyard management and winemaking ever after.

They own 18 hectares of vineyards, which have grown through purchase and inheritance. Olivier has a unique approach to the purity of Champagne, incorporating biodynamic methods. Olivier believes in working deeply with the vines, getting to know the vineyard and going his own way. He uses horses to cultivate and air the soil, allowing the roots to reach the chalk layer and take up the mineral content. This approach allows the vines to grow healthy and results in a very unique character and flavor to their Champagne.

Champagne Waris Hubert, an independent family business, is a relatively new house that began making Champagne in 1998, but has already converted 18 hectares of vineyards to organic cultivation and will be certified in 2023! Olivier creates wines on a vineyard-by-vineyard basis, free from fixed recipes or conventional practices. Their vineyards are mainly in the legendary terroirs of Avize, but they also own Grand Cru vineyards in Ogier and Clamant, as well as Premier Cru vineyards in neighboring regions.

Champagne Waris Hubert creates high quality wines in a short period without being restricted by market expectations or legacies. Olivier uses a combination of low-temperature fermentation, low sulfur use, and long aging on the sediments to produce a richly textured and extremely expressive Champagne! As a result, Waris Hubert’s Champagne is an attractive selection for enthusiasts. (Mr. Bacchus)
