Nagai Sake Co., Ltd. (Kawaba Village, Gunma Prefecture), a historic brewery dedicated to creating the ultimate value in sake under the theme of “Tradition and Innovation,” has announced a strategic partnership with the premium denim brand DENHAM. Together, they are launching a joint project to introduce authentic Japanese sake culture to the luxury resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

A Synergy of Shared Craftsmanship While operating in entirely different industries, Nagai Sake and DENHAM share a deep reverence for craftsmanship, heritage, and the pursuit of essential beauty—encapsulated in DENHAM’s philosophy, “The truth is in the details.” This collaboration transcends a simple product showcase, aiming to create an immersive cultural dialogue that blends taste, materials, and hospitality.

Bringing the Essence of Gunma’s Nature to Italy As part of this hospitality experience, guests in Cortina can enjoy Nagai Sake’s flagship “MIZUBASHO” series. The lineup includes the exceptionally smooth and elegant “MIZUBASHO Junmai Daiginjo 40,” the pioneering bottle-fermented sparkling sake “MIZUBASHO PURE,” and exclusive sake-based signature cocktails. Each pour embodies Nagai Sake’s core philosophy: reflecting the pristine natural beauty, pure water, and unique terroir of Japan.

An Immersive Spatial Experience The collaboration seamlessly integrates sake culture into the hospitality space. At the venue’s “Lanterna” bar, curated menus inspired by Japanese cuisine and sake are offered alongside specially designed original sake barrels (Taru), wooden cups (Masu), and premium glassware. Enhancing this cohesive aesthetic, hotel staff wear contemporary custom pieces designed by DENHAM, inspired by the traditional Japanese Happi coat—a modern reinterpretation of Japanese spirituality and design.

Through this unique intersection of historical cultures, Nagai Sake and DENHAM continue to challenge conventions, creating a sophisticated environment where global guests can experience the true depth of Japanese sake.
