Heiwa Craft IPA’s Journey from Wakayama to International Acclaim
Heiwa Craft IPA, a craft beer from Wakayama Prefecture, won a gold medal at the international beer competition KIBA. Held for the first time in Korea, the competition pitted more than 500 beers from around the world competed against each other for top honors. This award is more than just an honor; it is recognition on the international stage for craft beer that takes advantage of Wakayama Prefecture’s rich natural and regional characteristics.
Heiwa Craft IPA is characterized by its history and production method. IPA, the Indian Pale Ale, was developed at the end of the 18th century for the purpose of exporting beer from England to India. Using a higher alcohol content and a greater amount of hops than a regular pale ale, the beer does not degrade during long voyages. This beer was highly popular in England, where it was popularized as “Indian Pale Ale.
Heiwa Brewing has increased the amount of malt and hops in its regular pale ales by 1.5 times and 2 times. The result is a beer with citrus and tropical fruit aromas, intense bitterness and a full body. Although this beer has a strong alcohol content and flavor, it also has a good balance that makes it easy to drink a full bottle. Its flavor is most enjoyable when drunk at a temperature of 7-8°C
Heiwa Craft IPA has established a strong position in the domestic and international craft beer market. Its attractiveness lies not only in the awards it has won in international beer competitions, but also in the uniqueness of the product itself and its harmony with the region. By taking advantage of the ingredients produced by nature in Wakayama Prefecture and pursuing new tastes, we continue to provide beer lovers with new surprises.
Once you taste this “Heiwa Craft IPA,” you will realize why its unique flavor and balanced taste have been so well received on the international market. Please enjoy the pride of Wakayama, our hometown, with world-renowned craft beer. Heiwa Brewery will continue to try new innovative approaches and expand the possibilities of beer as well as sake.(Mr. Bacchus)
